This picture portrays the audience gathering in front of the Salzburg Festival Hall on a summer evening. I used subject material from many sources: my own photos over a number of years and other pictures for the people. All were concert guests, just not at the same time. Among others, I painted Arturo Toscanini (with bowler hat and cane) in the center. I worked on it for several years and only then finished it during lockdown: when it wasn't clear whether we would still have such scenes at all. Anticipation in a wonderful setting.
