I don’t remember why I decided to paint this still life. I didn't particularly like it at first, so I used it in one of my classes in the Leonardo Academy for an exercise in Sgraffitto, a technique where you cover a painting with some kind of wax, then scratch parts of it away. It took a lot of scratching, then more painting, before I came up with anything that satisfied. Now it hangs in my dining room, next to the giant lettuce.
