This was my first attempt to paint Mellie. In the past I often painted with water colors and still enjoy it when I do it. I like how easy it is to mix the colors I want. But I seldom use this medium any more. First, because after you finish a painting, you need matting and a glass covered frame. Too complicated. Almost all of my paintings these days are on wrap-around canvas panels. When the painting is finished, it can be hung as is. I used copies of this painting as an image for my calling cards. This works well because many of my neighbors recognize me because of Mellie.
